Abstract:

Twenty-three pairs of peregrine falcons occupied territories within Idaho in 2000. Fifteen pairs (65%) successfully produced 36 young for an average of 1.6 young per pair and 2.4 young per successful pair. Three young were banded as nestlings and three captive-produced young were fostered into an unsuccessful urban site in downtown Boise. The 23 pairs monitored this year
represent a two-pair (9.5%) increase over the number monitored in 1999 (21). Peregrines were not observed at one site which had been occupied in 1999. One site, not occupied since 1996, was again occupied in 2000. Two pairs were discovered at new sites, one in central and one in eastern Idaho. Surveys were conducted at 14 locations across the state.
