Abstract:

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game (IDFG) received notice that the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) is initiating the process to decide whether to delist water howellia (Howellia aquatilis) from threatened status after a 5-year review process concluded that the species was no longer in danger of extinction (or becoming endangered) throughout all or a significant portion of its range. USFWS is seeking input to their analysis to consider whether to remove water howellia from the endangered and threatened species list in accordance with the Endangered Species Act. If there are questions about our technical comments, please direct them to Dr. Rex Sallabanks, Wildlife Diversity Program Manager, rex.sallabanks@idfg.idaho.gov or Dr. Lynn Kinter, Lead Botanist, lynn.kinter@idfg.idaho.gov.
