Abstract:

This web page in the Fire Effects Information System summarizes nomenclature and legal status for the bighorn sheep, as well as information about the species' distribution and occurrence. Timing of the species' major life history events, the species' requirements for cover, its food habits, and management considerations regarding the species are discussed. Also examined are effects of fire on the bighorn sheep and its habitat, as well as use of fire in managing habitat for the species.
