Abstract:

Calicium corynellum (Ach.) Ach. is one of the few calicioid lichens, and the only one of its genus, that occurs almost exclusively on rock. It is widespread but rare throughout Europe from Fennoscandia to Italy. The first North American report of the species was based upon a single specimen collected under overhanging siliceous rocks in Wells Gray Provincial Park in central British Columbia. It appears to have a western North American - western Eurasian distribution pattern, a pattern which is being found to be common with many lichen species.
