I would like to salvage this animal and agree to the terms of salvage:
Hind quarters and backstrap.
Was a doe mule deer. I was driving home from school at aprox 2100 hours on highway 21 and saw the animal laying on the yellow line in the middle of the road right near the hilltop cafe. I decided to stop to A: clear the animal off the road for safety, so someone would not hit it or swerve off the road and B: to put the animal down if it was still alive, to avoid any unnecessary suffering on the animals part. I walked up to the animal with a flashlight and nudged it with my foot, and got no response. It was laying on its side, and appeared to have sustained a fatal collision with a vehicle, as her front quarters were a bit mangled as well as the shoulder etc. The roadkill was recent, as it was not on the highway on my way to class at approx 1600. Rigor mortise had not yet set in, so the collision must have been somewhat recent before my discovery of the animal. I decided to collect the animal, so it would not go to waste and utilize what I could.
