Species Account:
Typical mule deer color, young button buck, 80-90lbs on the hoof. I was coming home last night heading down hwy 21 towards Grimes Creek about 10:30pm and just below the pass (on the Grimes Creek side) located near Lucky Peak, as I was rounding the curve down below, the deer was standing in my lane heading to my right. I immediately hit the brakes and skidded about 30 yards ( the skid marks can be seen today) to the left into the opposing lane, the deer turned and ran to the left during the process and I ended up striking and running over the deer killing it. No damage occurred to my vehicle.
