Species Account:
A large buck suddenly ran out in front of my car as I was traveling south on hwy 55. I was going the speed limit but he appeared so quickly that I didn't have much time to break. My car struck him hard enough that it either broke his back, or back legs. I called law enforcement and had him put down. It happened a couple hundred feet north of The Elk Creek church. The buck had a small herd who kept coming over and running out into the road. It was dusk. The buck had the makings of a nice set of antlers, maybe a possible 4-5 point? They were only half formed but looked large at the base. The officer gave me number 2016-00863 to report.
