Species Account:
On March 29, 2015, I was hiking with my 4-year-old granddaughter in the Boise foothills on the Kestral trail above the 8th street parking log (the one with the outhouse). My granddaughter spotted it and said, "Look a horse." It was a lone grey wolf. I have grown up in Idaho and seen numerous coyote. This was much larger and more of a grey color. It was on the slope across from where we were hiking and was heading downhill toward the area where the trail leads to the learning center. We watched it for a few minutes. It looked at us and kept trotting down the hillside until it disappeared from site into the sage brush.
