Count:
1
Count Type:

Sex:
Unknown
Life State:
Dead
Life Stage:
Mature (Adult)
Species Account:
Animal was dead lying in Micron Technology's parking lot on it's back. It had not been run over. White on underside, and gray on sides that were visible (did not turn over to look at back). Approximately 4 inches in length. Looked like house mouse but about 2x's larger. Looked at images of the various species to pick from and this species appeared to resemble it the closest.
Looking at the map of the area wildlife officials say humans and pets should avoid due to plague concerns (PROVIDED BY IDAHO HEALTH AND WELFARE/FISH AND GAME/CENTRAL DISTRICT HEALTH) it appears Micron Technology is just within the borders of that area. I contacted Micron's security dept. about it and they said they would contact someone to "deal with it". I encouraged them to contact Idaho Fish and Game with regard to finding a dead mouse and getting it tested to rule out black plague. I realize that there were not several of these rodents found in one area, but if one is found in the parking lot there are likely to be more living in the open sagebrush fields that surround Micron. Also, some of my co-workers have seen mice inside Micron facilities. Since there are something like 5000-6000 employees at Micron, it seems that it would be good to know that there are not any plague carrying rodents in the area
Thank you.
