Species Account:
Color was deep dark brown (chocolate brown), size from tip of nose to tip of tail 38-40 inches, weight estimated at 30-35 pounds. Not completely certain of sex, but was able what appeared to be male genitalia. Animal was located on shoulder of westbound lane of 1st avenue New Plymouth immediately prior to crossing the freeway overpass just east of the intersection with HWY 95. Animal appeared to have been run over from tail to head, with severe damage to internal organs and spine.
