Species Account:
Janel Fisher was driving westbound on Canyon Road and a small buck hit her car. His neck was broken and lungs were filled with blood. He died almost instantly. I was phoned by Mardy Fisher, Janel's husband, to come and help remove the deer from the road. He in turn also called Mark Bowen a fish and game officer who agreed it was okay to salvage the deer and that we needed to fill out this information. He said it was okay to remove the deer and salvage what meat we could. The deer was approx. a 2 yr old buck who's antlers had recently fallen off. He was about 100 lbs and going from his winter coat to his summer coat shedding out. We were able to salvage a rump roast, backstrap and some of the neck. Due to the impact there was severe damage to other parts of the deer.
