Species Account:
The color was grey/tan. The animal was about 100 pounds. I witnessed the animal being struck by another vehicle around noon on Friday January 2nd. The location was on Idaho Route 3 about a quarter mile north of the bridge crossing the railroad at Mashburn, where the road begins up Soldier Creek Canyon. I returned around 6:00 pm with a friend to safely help me load the animal into my vehicle. There were a few carrion in the trees and appeared to have eaten some flesh from the animal's front left shoulder, which had been shattered, along with the spine. We removed the entire animal. Due to trauma of the vehicular impact, all meat on the front half of the animal was too bloodshot to be considered edible.
