Location Note About 6pm Sunday evening I came upon a road kill. Having been
informed that it is now legal to harvest such. I stopped and
checked to see if it was a recent accident. The doe was still very
warm to touch and did not appear to be damaged too much. I called
my friend Doris to see if she could use the meat. Upon
confirmation, yes, she could. I decided to take it to her place and
see if we could harvest and save some meat for her. I could not
load the deer into my Exterra by myself, so I waited for a while
and flagged down a couple of people who gladly stopped and helped
me. The deer is hanging in the barn at Doris Curott's home at
1274 Blue Lake Rd, Priest River, ID. Officer Rob Soumas has already
visited and seen the deer as of yesterday evening. I skinned and
dressed the deer and it appeared it suffered a broken neck, some
broken ribs and some damage to the top of the right hindquarter. I
believe we will be able to save most of the meat. The doe was
pregnate with twin fawns.
