Between May and June, Fish and Game stocks about 685,000 catchable trout in Idaho waters. Those are the two biggest stocking months because Fish and Game hatchery crews want there to be plenty of fish for anglers to catch throughout the state and it tends to be some of the best fishing conditions of the year.
From tags sales to general season openers, there’s a lot happening in Idaho next month that you should be aware of. Idaho Fish and Game's Upper Snake Region held their annual Youth Outdoor Skills Day at Beaver Dick Park this May with support from local sporting groups and businesses. The theme of this year's event was "Together, we conserve Idaho's wild" in conjunction with Fish and Game's 125th Anniversary Celebration. Over 500 community members were in attendance for a day filled with free activities, food and fun.

Idaho Fish and Game has begun the process of negotiated rulemaking. The Department will be hosting a series of public meetings at Fish and Game’s Headquarters building in Boise. The meetings will also be streamed virtually on Zoom. Those interested can learn more about each rule chapter being reviewed.

Late afternoon on Friday, May 24, a turkey hunter was attacked by a female moose on a section of Bureau of Land Management land bordering the Snake River downstream of Wadsworth Island, a few miles south of Blackfoot city limits.
