Q: I noticed the stocking report of brookies for Henry's lake in 2012 and 2013 was about 100k and 40k. I was wondering if these stockings included male brook trout? I know there was some discussion about this, but never heard whether it was/did happen.
A: Yes, but...... The only brook trout we presently stock in Henrys Lake are sterile and can't successfully reproduce. Their are still some natural brook trout in Henrys that migrate up the tributaries in the fall and spawn but survival of the eggs is poor. By placing eggs in a pressure chamber ...
Q: Re late spring Hybrid Trout spawn run at Henry's Lake Outlet (between the dam and US 20). Usually many fisherman wading and a few were bank fishing. Is wading is legal or not? Is wading a significant threat to newly laid eggs? No signage either way?
A: There are no restrictions on wading below Henrys Lake. While there are many redds visible, and many anglers wading through the stream (and even through redds), it is rare for impacts from wading to have enough of an impact on egg to fry survival to reduce fish populations.
