Idaho Fish and Game wildlife staff are still mindful of recovering deer and pronghorn in eastern Idaho and will propose modifying the 2024 hunting seasons during the March 20 Commission meeting. The proposed changes include several controlled hunts and landowner appreciation (LAP) hunts.
Kokanee anglers should see improved opportunities from 2022-23, and Smallmouth bass anglers should continue to experience excellent bass fishing with trophy opportunities. Higher abundances of rainbow trout stocking will also continue to provide opportunities for both boat and shore anglers.

Idaho Fish and Game and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation again teamed up to expand the Tex Creek Wildlife Management Area (WMA) just west of Idaho Falls. Their collaborative efforts conserved and added 328 acres to the nearly 36,000-acre WMA.
