Steelhead fishing improved considerably this past week in the upper Salmon River area in terms of the number of fish kept and the hours of angling required (on average) to catch a keeper. Days with better success rates were likely attributed to schools of fish migrating through the river system or possibly weather events that positively influenced fish activity. Fishing should be at its peak for the next several weeks if moderate weather conditions persist.
* The values shown are unexpanded sample data and estimates of fishing effort and success.
** Before October 15, steelhead fishing upstream of Memorial Bridge of U.S. Highway 12 at Lewiston is catch-and-release only.
