Abstract:

Here, the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (Service), announces a 12-month finding for a petition to list the yellow-billed cuckoo (Coccyzus americanus) in the western continental United States under the Endangered Species Act of 1973, as amended. The Service finds that the petitioned action is warranted, but precluded by higher priority listing actions. The Service will develop a proposed rule to list this population pursuant to its Listing Priority Guidance. Upon publication of this notice of 12-month petition finding, this species will be added to the candidate species list. DATES: The finding announced in this document was made on July 18, 2001. Comments and information may be submitted until further notice.
