Free Fishing Day casting lessons

The Idaho Department of Fish and Game's aquatic education program promotes participation in recreational fishing through active recruitment and retention programming. The programs can generally be separated into two branches, Aquatic Life Cycles and Learn to Fish.

Aquatic Life Cycles

These programs increase knowledge about the value of aquatic habitats.

Who Pays for Aquatic Education in Idaho?
Money for Idaho's aquatic education program comes from an excise tax placed on fishing and boating equipment sold in the United States. The money generated is distributed to the states for Sport Fish Restoration projects such as aquatic education. If you fish or go hunting, you are helping others to learn to enjoy these outdoor pastimes too!
