Marble Creek/Hobo Pass/Merry Creek Subloop

Site Size: 28 linear miles

Access: Open late May - October 31. Access free of charge.

Site Location

Directions: From St. Maries, at junction of ID 3/ID 5, take ID 3 N; R (N) at mp 85 onto FR 50 (St. Joe River Rd) (see site N29) continue E on FR 50 to Marble Creek; R (S) on FR 321 for 28 mi to Clarkia; when descending Hobo Summit on Merry Creek, turn L (E) onto FR 3357 for 2 mi to access Hobo Cedar Grove.

Description: Hobo Cedar Grove is an ancient grove of western red cedar trees that provides a present-day glimpse at what the surrounding landscape may have looked like historically. This drive features Harlequin Duck and American Dipper along Marble Creek and Fox Sparrow should be watched and listened for.
