Site Location

Directions: From Coeur d’Alene, US 95 N for ~20 mi; at Athol (mp 449.1), turn R (E) on ID 54; 4 mi to park entrance.

Description: This park offers scenic views of tall, forested mountains, steep, rugged cliffs, and Lake Pend Oreille. Species that can be seen include Ruffed Grouse, Swainson’s Thrush, Townsend’s and MacGillivray’s Warblers, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Cassin’s Vireo, Cordilleran Flycatcher, and Mountain Bluebird. In winter, look for Northern Pygmy-Owl, Rough-legged Hawk, Red-necked Grebe, and Barrow’s Goldeneye.
