Directions: In Salmon, from US 93/ID 28 intersection, SE on ID 28 for 1 mi; watch for a prominent sign directing a L turn into the Center’s parking area.

Description: The Sacajawea Interpretive, Cultural, and Education Center offers birders of all ability easy access to the Lemhi River and adjacent floodplains, which feature towering black cottonwood forests, grassy meadows, a cattail marsh, and a perennial natural spring. Cross-country skiing is available in the winter and provides an opportunity to view Bald Eagle along the river. Red-tailed Hawk, Great Blue Heron, and American Dipper can be seen year-round. In addition, Sora (April-Oct), Sandhill Crane (April-Oct), Killdeer, Spotted Sandpiper, Wilson’s Snipe (March-Nov), Common Grackle (May-Sept), and Bohemian Waxwing (Dec-Feb) can be found along the river and around the Center.
