At mile 3.8 is a tiny marsh covered in brush; listen and look for warblers. At the Weis Rock Shelter (7.2 mi) watch for Yellow-breasted Chat. The confluence of Grave Creek and Rock Creek (7.9 mi) is often good birding. Where Grave Creek joins the Salmon River upstream from Pine Bar Recreation Area look for Common Merganser, Chukar, Lewis’s Woodpecker, and Canyon Wren. White-throated Swift can be seen on cliffs along creek and river.
