Hunt areas are numbered sequentially by year and species. The unfortunate result is that a 2010 Deer Hunt Area 1-1 may not have the same boundary as a 2009 Deer Hunt Area 1-1 or even 2010 Elk Hunt Area 1-1. To be clear, always check the hunt area boundary to see if they match. That portion of Unit 1 within the following boundary: Beginning at Bonners Ferry, then east along the Kootenai River to the Idaho-Montana border, then southwest along the Boulder Creek-Star Creek divide to Calder Mountain, then west along the Kootenai River-Pack River divide to US Highway 95, then north along the highway to the point of beginning.
