Visiting Hours - McArthur Lake Wildlife Management Area is open year-round.
Access for the Disabled - For persons with disabilities, access within McArthur Lake WMA varies by area. Visitors with special needs are encouraged to contact WMA management personnel to determine which areas are most suitable for physically challenged visitors. In all cases, visitors are encouraged to assess their own abilities before entering McArthur Lake WMA.
Vehicles/Parking - Use of motorized vehicles, including ATVs, is permitted only on established roadways. These restrictions protect area vegetation and minimize wildlife disturbance. Please park only in designated areas.
Nesting Area Restrictions - Part of the WMA is closed to boat, vehicle and foot entry in the spring and summer to provide undisturbed nesting opportunities for wildlife. Watch for these signed areas and respect the closures.
Wildlife Observation/Photography - McArthur WMA provides excellent opportunities to view wildlife, particularly birds. Visitors are welcome to hike all open interior roads and trails for viewing and photographic purposes. Two wildlife-viewing blinds have been constructed on the east side of the lake for public use. Remember to watch for nesting area closure signs.
Hunting/Fishing - Both hunting and fishing are allowed on McArthur Lake WMA. Generally all seasons and bag limits that apply to the surrounding area apply on the WMA, however, specific rules and access to some WMA locations may change from year to year. Consult current rules for more details.
Boating - A boat ramp and parking is located on the northeast portion of the WMA.
Camping - Camping is allowed in an area just north of the dam, but is limited to no more than 10 days within any 30 day period.
Fires - All fires must be attended and in authorized camping areas. Fires may be prohibited when fire danger is high. Signs will be posted if a fire closure is necessary.
Pets - Pets must be leashed or under close control at all times on McArthur Lake WMA, with the exception of bird dogs, where permitted, during hunting seasons. The release or abandonment of domestic animals on McArthur Lake WMA is prohibited at all times.
