How To Get There
Georgetown Summit Wildlife
Management Area is located in
Bear Lake County approximately
12 miles southeast of Soda Springs and 3 miles northwest of
Georgetown on US highway 30. Primary access to the WMA
is from two roads that leave US highway 30 approximately 0.6
miles south of highway mile marker 417. The road on the east
side of US highway 30 provides access to Jones and Big Canyons.
The road on the west side of US highway 30 provides access
to parking areas on the base of North Hill. Additional access
to North Hill is provided by a parking area on the west side of
US highway 30 approximately 0.3 miles south of highway mile
marker 419.
General Information
The mission of Georgetown Summit WMA is to enhance elk and
mule deer winter range and sharp-tailed grouse habitat through
vegetation management. Habitat is managed for vigor and
diversity in order to benefit wildlife and fish and provide upland
and riparian communities for game and nongame species. The
WMA strives to provide opportunities to the public for wildlifebased
recreation compatible with
maintaining high quality wildlife
and fish habitat. Responsible
public use is encouraged. Of the
land within the WMA, Idaho Fish
and Game owns 772 acres, leases
907 acres from Rocky Mountain
Elk Foundation, and also leases
1,670 adjacent acres from Idaho
Department of Lands.

stage and vegetation type diversity
while improving plant vigor for the
benefit of wildlife and fish; provide
opportunities for non-consumptive
and consumptive wildlife-based
recreation that is compatible with
maintaining high quality wildlife
and fish habitat; and protect habitat
from future development.
