Bird watchers are encouraged to visit during the summer months when 53 species of non-game birds nest on the WMA. Access for the Disabled - For persons with disabilities, access within Farragut WMA varies by area. Campgrounds and Picnic areas in the adjacent Farragut State Park have handicap-equipped restrooms. Restrooms at the boat launch are also ADA approved. Visitors with special needs are encouraged to contact WMA management personnel to determine which areas are most suitable for physically challenged visitors. In all cases, visitors are encouraged to assess their own abilities before entering Farragut WMA. Vehicles/Parking - Use of motorized vehicles is permitted on established roadways. Limited use of trails by ATV’s may be permitted, check with WMA management personnel. These restrictions protect vegetation areas and minimize wildlife disturbance. Consult posted rules for launching and hours of use. Area Restrictions: - Winter use of some trails may be restricted. Snowmobiling and cross- country skiing is permitted only on established trails. Fishing regulations established by IDFG for Lake Pend Oreille govern all fishing on the WMA. Camping - Overnight camping is permitted within the campgrounds of Farragut State Park. See the Idaho State Parks web pages for information regarding rules, restrictions and reservations. For visitors convenience picnic areas and an RV dumpsite are located near the campgrounds. Fires/Firewood Cutting: - Fires are permitted only in campsites equipped with fire pits or fireplaces and must be attended at all times. Fires may be prohibited during periods of wildfire danger, check campground management personnel for details. Firewood is available for purchase from campground management personnel. Firewood cutting and removal of materials from their natural setting are prohibited. Wildlife Observation/Photography - Visitors are encouraged to use existing trails and roadways to observe and photograph wildlife. Straying from trails and open use areas may cause damage to habitat and could be hazardous. Pets - Pets must be leashed or under close control at all times on Farragut WMA.
