Large numbers of visitors to the Farragut Wildlife Management Area are drawn to the area by adjacent Farragut State Park.
A trail network on the Wildlife Management Area gets considerable use by hikers, birdwatchers, horseback riders, mountain bikers, mushroom gatherers and snowmobilers. The trail system accounts for an estimated 6,200 visitor days. About 2,000 shooters use developed rifle and pistol ranges on the Wildlife Management Area annually.
(The range is temporarily closed for safety and noise mitigation improvements. In the near future, the range will reopen to limited use while work on improvements continues.)
Seasonal archery deer hunting provides 750 user days.
Public use estimates of the southern Wildlife Management Area parcels adjacent to Lake Pend Oreille likely exceed 30,000 visitor days annually. These areas have well developed recreational facilities, including a boat launch, parking areas, restrooms, docks and trails. The boat launch provides a major portion of the public boating and fishing access to Lake Pend Oreille. About 20 percent of all boat anglers seeking access to the lake use the facility.
