How To Get There

General Information
Farragut WMA is located in Kootenai County adjacent to the town of Bayview. Portions of the WMA are surrounded by Farragut State Park and border Lake Pend Oreille. Sandpoint is located 30 miles to the north and Coeur d’Alene 25 miles south.
The Idaho Department of Fish and Game acquired the WMA from the United States Government in order to protect white-tailed deer winter range and to provide public boating and fishing access to Lake Pend Oreille. Farragut WMA and Farragut State Park now occupy the site of the old Farragut Naval Training Center. This WMA is unique in Idaho in that it is co-managed by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game and the Idaho Department of Parks and Recreation. Wildlife management activities are the responsibility of Fish and Game while Parks and Recreation is primarily responsible for recreation and supervision of public use. This co-management agreement provides the public with enhanced public recreational opportunities.
