Opportunities to enjoy Deer Parks are as diverse as the landscape
and the seasons. At the end of March, a flood of waterfowl fills
Butte Slough, providing a welcome chance to get outside after
winter and view wildlife. Almost any species of waterfowl found
in southern and eastern Idaho can be found here, including Redbreasted
Mergansers and Trumpeter Swans. In the spring,
migrating songbirds and raptors fill the cottonwood forests,
making Deer Parks a hot spot for birding. During any time of
year, the gentle landscape is
an open invitation for nonmotorized
travel, whether
walking, horseback riding, or
cross-country skiing.
The Snake River is a whole
source of recreation in itself.
The river is open to fishing
and boaters often observe
beavers, mink, deer, and
moose. In the fall, secret
coves and backwaters
provide places for waterfowl
hunting.
