Follow Highway 51/78 6.5 miles southwest through Bruneau to the second junction of Highways 51 and 78. Then go west another 2.5 miles on Highway 78 to the WMA headquarters.

General Information
C.J. Strike Wildlife Management Area (WMA), one of more than 20 WMAs in Idaho, was established to provide nesting habitat, brood rearing areas and hunting opportunities for upland game and waterfowl. In 1953, the Department of Fish and Game was granted a 50-year license to manage approximately 1,850 acres of Idaho Power-owned lands surrounding C.J. Strike Reservoir. These lands, including some 200 acres of irrigated agricultural cropland and accompanying buildings, were transferred to Department management to compensate for the loss of wildlife habitat caused by the construction of C.J. Strike Dam and Reservoir on the Snake River in 1952.

Since 1953, the Department has acquired additional wildlife habitat to complement these lands through purchases, federal land withdrawals, gifts, easements and management agreements. The WMA now encompasses approximately 10,664 acres, including 3,000 acres of streams, ponds and part of the reservoir.
