Public Use of Coeur d'Alene River WMA
Hunting, fishing, camping, recreational boating, sightseeing, bird watching and hiking are some of the outdoor activities awaiting Coeur d’Alene River WMA visitors. Fishing and recreational boating are the most popular activities with bird/wildlife viewing and hunting following close behind. Camping, trail hiking and other outdoor pursuits are also popular within the WMA.
Anglers and recreational boaters will find boat access sites at Rose Lake, Bull Run Lake, Medimont, Thompson Lake, Round Lake, Killarney Lake and Rainey Hill. Access sites within Heyburn State Park provide for public use of the Lower St. Joe River and adjacent lakes. Waterfowl hunters and big game hunters will find good hunting opportunities for each season within and adjacent to the WMA. A trapping season has also been established. Trappers must register with the Coeur d’Alene WMA management personnel at Harrison, Idaho or the IDFG regional office in Coeur d’Alene.
