Public Use of Carey Lake WMA

The main recreational activity at Carey Lake WMA is fishing. Fishermen spend over 2500 user days annually fishing in Carey Lake. The lake provides some very nice largemouth bass and fisherman often leave with a stringer full of bluegill. Waterfowl hunters spend about 500 user days on the WMA each year and can expect to be successful. Big game hunting and trapping on Carey Lake WMA are also popular recreational activities.

The spring and fall migrations of waterfowl provide wonderful opportunity for wildlife study and observation. Sightseeing, bird watching and photography opportunities are excellent at Carey Lake WMA and will provide hours of enjoyment for the visitor. About 900 user days each year are spent at Carey Lake enjoying the wildlife and scenery.
