How To Get There To get to Carey Lake WMA travel to Carey, Idaho on either highway 20 or combined highway 26/93. From Carey travel about 1 mile east on combined highway 20/26/93 that borders the northern boundary of the WMA. Signs and a short access road will take you to the parking area.
General Information Mission Statement: The Carey Lake Wildlife Management Area will provide quality wetland and upland habitat, meeting the resource needs of migratory and resident wildlife and provide multiple outdoor recreational activities compatible with these wildlife resource needs.
Carey Lake WMA provides an important stopover for migrating waterfowl and shore birds as well as breeding and rearing habitat for resident birds. The first part of the mission statement is carried out by providing and maintaining the quality wetland habitat necessary to meet the needs of these wildlife resources.
Carey Lake WMA receives considerable use from fishermen, early-season waterfowl hunters and bird watchers. Maintaining a quality wildlife habitat also accomplishes the goal of providing outdoor recreational activities that will be available for the public now and for future generations.
