How To Get There Cecil D. Andrus WMA is located in Washington County northwest of Cambridge, Idaho. Arriving at Cambridge on US Highway 95, take State Highway 71 northwest about 18 miles from Cambridge to the WMA. The headquarters for the WMA are adjacent to the highway, which continues north crossing the Snake River and connecting with Oregon State Highway 86 near Oxbow Dam.
General Information
Mission Statement: The primary mission of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game will be to manage the Cecil D. Andrus Wildlife Management Area to maintain and improve the habitat resources for fish and wildlife. The Department will offer the public a variety of recreational opportunities on the area, providing that such opportunities are compatible with the primary mission.
Cecil D. Andrus WMA encompasses about 23,608 acres along Brownlee Reservoir in Washington County. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game owns 10,087 acres and cooperatively manages 12,821 acres belonging to the Idaho Department of Lands as well as 700 acres belonging to the BLM.
Brownlee Reservoir and the 30 miles of streams within the WMA give fishermen a diverse array of opportunities that are hard to match anywhere else. Hunting opportunities on the WMA include elk, mule deer, black bear, mountain lion, turkey, forest grouse, chukar and gray partridge. Upland game birds are found throughout the WMA, with chukar being the most plentiful and most popular with hunters.
