Annual voluntary contributions to the Nongame Program through the state income tax checkoff was how the Nongame Program started, and continues to support the program. Funds raised through the checkoff have ranged from a high of $90,000 in 1982, to a low of $36,000 in 1996. Contributions in 2006 were $50,700.
Ask your tax preparer to mark the Nongame Program checkoff on your Idaho State income tax return.
The number of Americans participating in wildlife-associated education and recreation activities such as birdwatching, wildlife photography, and birdfeeding continues to rise annually. However, while this constituency rapidly grows, the problem of how to adequately fund the Nongame Program and meet ever-increasing demands continues. Please continue to support Idaho's Nongame programs through the income tax checkoff and the wildlife license plates.
