Nongame Bird Program
The Nongame Bird Program is coordinated by Dr. Rex Sallabanks, a Staff Biologist in the Nongame and Endangered Wildlife Program. The Nongame Bird Program provides:
- answers to questions from the public and professional wildlife scientists about Idaho's birds
- technical advice to agency biologists, and oversight on a number of important initiatives, such as Partners in Flight, bird monitoring, and the Idaho Important Bird Areas and the Idaho Birding Trail
- information about the legal protection of birds under the Migratory Bird Treaty Act, as well as suggestions on how to deal with nuisance species such as woodpeckers, gulls and starlings
For questions about Idaho's nongame birds, or to request information, please contact Dr. Sallabanks via e-mail or by calling (208) 334-2920.
