Idaho Nongame Wildlife Logo

More than 80% of Idaho's wild creatures are classified as "nongame wildlife" — 523 species including songbirds, waterbirds, raptors, small mammals, reptiles and amphibians, and threatened and endangered wildlife. Nongame wildlife are animals which are not normally hunted, fished, or trapped.

Nongame animals live in every corner of Idaho, including your own backyard. Others, like the elusive wolverine, hide deep in evergreen woods. Herons, salamanders, frogs, and swans are just a few of the nongame animals in Idaho's wet areas. Keep your steps quiet and your eyes open. You'll see nongame wildlife all around you!
