Wildlife Express is a newspaper published nine times a year (September through May) by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game for upper elementary and middle school students. Each issue focuses on the natural history of an Idaho wildlife species and is written in an educational and entertaining fashion.

Classroom subscriptions and an Educator’s Guide are available for $35.00 per year and include a classroom set of 30 copies mailed to your school each month. Subscriptions of 10 copies or less are available for $20.00.

Wildlife Express for Early Learners

New This Year!

This publication is for young children interested in animals.

There are two versions of Wildlife Express for Early Learners. The first is designed for pre-K - kindergarten students. Some of the words may be difficult for the students to read. There are activities (drawings mostly) that they can do on their printout. The second version is for more advanced readers in the younger grades. You may want look over each before printing and decide which is right for you.

Many teachers who subscribe to Wildlife Express are pairing up with a younger grade for book buddies. Once a month, the book buddies get together with Wildlife Express buddies. This idea was presented to us by two Boise-area school teachers.

The publication may also be used by itself. We feel, however, that it's best when used in conjunction with Wildife Express. An older child or adult can share more specific information found in the regular publication. The Wildlife Express for Early Learners monthly issues coincide with the regular issues.
