Pheasant Release Schedule

Game farm pheasants will be released on the Department's Wildlife Management Areas listed below. The quantity of birds released varies through the season to accommodate historic hunter demand and weather conditions. Usually the birds will be released before 10 a.m. in the morning or after shooting hours in the evening. The exact day of release is not listed to prevent crowding and give some flexibility with dates.

It is the goal of the Department to vary the day of release so that all hunters will have a fair chance of finding birds. Also, pheasant deliveries are not available on certain days due to weather or scheduling conflicts with the contractor. Weekend releases will be made periodically at Ft. Boise WMA. Every effort will be made to release the number of birds listed for each week. Occasionally, the weekly quota of birds will not be met due to uncontrollable events such as bad weather and additional birds will be released the following week.

Note:  The actual number of pheasants released per week at each WMA may differ from the planned number. The differences are due to weather conditions and/or other unforeseen circumstances.
