Options for Active Military Personnel
We at the Idaho Department of Fish and Game appreciate the sacrifices our active military personnel make on behalf of Idahoans and all Americans. As a small token of our appreciation we have some special programs for men and women who are serving in the military. Whether you are involved in combat overseas or defending freedom here at home we hope you will take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy the abundance of fish and wildlife Idaho has to offer.
Furlough License Fees
Fish and Game offers Idaho residents on leave from the military these discounts on licenses:
- Military Furlough Combination
Hunting/Fishing - $17.50 (Standard fee is $33.50)

Resident Fees for Nonresident Military Stationed in Idaho
Fish and Game offers resident fees on licenses, tags and permits for military personnel stationed in Idaho for at least 30 days.
Rain check/Refund
Any man or woman serving in an active military conflict will be eligible to receive a rain check or refund for licenses, tags or permits they were unable to use due to their deployment. For more information contact Fish and Game headquarters or the office in your region, or print a request form and mail it to Fish and Game Headquarters in Boise, Idaho.
Military Status Residency Affidavit
This document has been developed to allow new Idaho military arrivals to buy resident licenses once they have been in state at least 30 days. The affidavit allows the purchase of resident fish and game licenses/tags by active duty full-time military personnel, including his/her spouse and children (less than 18 years of age) living in the same household after 30 days of continuous residency in Idaho. It is only valid for 30 days after the date of issuance. Please see the Military Status Residency Affidavit for more information.
Depredation Preference
To accommodate Idaho resident military personnel returning from active duty after the general hunting season, the Idaho Fish and Game Commission has adjusted the process for issuing permits for depredation hunts. The new rules allow men and women returning from active duty to move to the top of the list of applicants for depredation hunts. Applications for depredation hunts are available at any regional office or Fish and Game headquarters in Boise.
