Idaho Salmon & Steelhead Days Salmon Barbecue Thursday, September 11, 2008 — 5:30 - 8:00 pm |
Support Idaho Salmon & Steelhead Days by attending the salmon barbecue. Enjoy a delicious salmon dinner donated by Fred Meyer and prepared by Murphy's Seafood Bar & Grill chefs. Dessert is donated by Goody's Soda Fountain & Candy Store. All barbecue activities are family friendly and include live music, gyotaku fish painting and splashing in the Boise River with the activity Kids in the Creek. The Nature Center stream walk will be open for viewing live Chinook salmon and kokanee salmon. Tickets are limited and sold on a first-come, first-serve basis. Idaho Salmon and Steelhead Days is an educational event that celebrates the biology, history and economic and cultural significance of salmon and steelhead. During the three day event, as many as 1,800 fifth graders participate in hands-on outdoor activities. Classes are scheduled in the spring for the following year. All events are held at Idaho Fish & Game's headquarters at 600 S. Walnut St., Boise. |
Creatures of the Night - A Nocturnal Celebration October 24 & 25, 2008 — 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. |
As the sun sets, out come the creatures of the night! Bring the whole family in costume to the MK Nature Center for our fourth annual Creatures of the Night Halloween event. Bring a sense of adventure for a night walk to learn all about nocturnal critters like beavers, owls, spiders, wolves, and crayfish. Create your own mask and enjoy fireside story telling.
Purchase tickets in advance at the MK Nature Center after October 15. Tickets are $3/person (kids age 2 and under are free). A limited number of tickets (400/night) will be sold to maintain the quality of the event. The MK Nature Center is located behind Fish and Game Headquarters at 600 S. Walnut in Boise. Purchase beautifully packaged premium bird seed from gift size samples to 40 pound bags. Learn about different types of seed and the birds you can attract.
Other items for sale include quality bird feeders, books, and children's gifts.
