Directions: At intersection of W Mtn Rd and Lakeshore Dr, at S end of Cascade Reservoir, turn R (W) on W Mtn Rd (West Side Rd); zero odometer; pavement ends at mi 3.5; mi 3.7 boat launch provides lake access; mi 5.9 check campground for songbirds; mi 7.9 check cherry bushes; mi 10.7 aspen patch; mi 16.1-18.2 is Duck Creek WMA; mi 21.8 turn R (E) on W Tamarack Falls; zig-zag N and E to Roseberry Drive and then to Donnelly.
Description: This 30-mile drive takes you along Lake Cascade’s western side. During the spring and fall, Mountain Bluebird, Winter Wren, Varied Thrush, shorebirds, sapsuckers and woodpeckers frequent the area. In the summer, species that can be found include Western and Clark’s Grebes, American White Pelican, Sandhill Crane, American Redstart, MacGillivray’s Warbler, Warbling Vireo, and Lincoln’s Sparrow. Note: seasonal nesting closure from Feb1- July 1.
