Directions: I-84 Exit #71; turn SW; zero odometer; pass Stage Stop Truck Stop; at mi 0.3 turn R (W) at sign for "Indian Creek Reservoir"; reservoir overlook at 1 mi; at mi 1.5 drive through barbed-wired gate-leave it as you found it (do not to go beyond this point if the rd is wet); continue 0.2 mi to walk along shoreline.

Description: Indian Creek Reservoir is one of the five ephemeral reservoirs that are containments for melt water from the Danskin Mountains. It can be a stopping place for migrants, sandpipers, Marbled Godwit, and Long-billed Curlew. After nesting season, the reservoir has been a staging area for immature curlew prior to their departure southward. Because of the shallowness of the reservoir, it does freeze over winter. as a result, nearly all species of waterfowl found in Idaho can be found here at some time. Good for loons, grebes, and waterfowl. Trumpeter Swan are always a possibility in migration. The mudflats are important for shorebirds such as Black-necked Stilt, American Avocet, Greater and Lesser Yellowlegs, and Western, Least and Baird’s Sandpipers. Breeding nearby are Long-billed Curlew, Swainson’s and Ferruginous Hawks, and Sage Thrasher. Riparian vegetation at the dam can be a passerine migrant "trap."
