Description: Starting through hay meadows, rolling hills and the winding course of Jordan Creek, you’ll soon climb into the mountains and gnarled stands of juniper woodlands. Numerous mountain ranges frame the picturesque desert, and you will be wrapping around the southern edge of Idaho’s Owyhees Mountains. From expanses of sagebrush and wildflowers, to rough, rock-walled rivers and streams, the Owyhee Uplands represent what many people believe the real West is all about. Look for Vesper, Brewer’s, Chipping, Song, Sage, and Lark Sparrows, as well as Green-tailed Towhee, Gray Flycatcher, and Rock Wren. Yellow-breasted Chat is abundant during spring and summer months at the North Fork Owyhee River campground. Wilson’s Snipe and Phalarope common in wetlands near Oregon border.
