Directions: From Idaho Falls, at jct of US 26/ID 43, US 26 N 12.7 mi; R (S) on Meadow Ck Rd (145th E); zero odometer; mi 3 rd becomes gravel; mi 6.2 R at fork; descend; mi 8.2 go straight (L) at fork; mi 10.7 R at moose sign; mi 12.4 Tex Creek WMA HQ; see map below; use HQ as starting point for the 4 birding areas: the Granary, Indian Fork, Upper Meadow Creek, and Tex Creek (SW of HQ).
Description: Best birded in spring and summer. Greater Sage- and Sharp-tailed Grouse and Gray Partridge are found in the dry shrub-lands. Forest and riparian areas provide food and shelter for Blue and Ruffed Grouse. Beaver ponds and constructed impoundments provide duck and goose nesting habitat. Black-capped Chickadee, Brown Creeper, American Goldfinch, shrikes, and Chipping Sparrow inhabit the forest, riparian and upland communities. Bald and Golden Eagles, Northern Goshawk, and American Kestrel also frequent the area. Great Horned Owl can often be seen near the hay shed.
