Access: Year-round. Open sunrise - sunset. Access free of charge.

Site Location

Directions: I-15 S Exit #63; R (W) on Old Highway 91 for 0.1 mi; L over railroad track on Fort Hall Rd for 0.3 mi; R on Portneuf River Rd for 1.4 mi; L at stop sign on Mink Creek Rd; 3.2 mi enter Caribou National Forest; park in parking area on R (park out of the way-school bus turn-around); cross rd and through gate; walk Kinney Creek Canyon; return to the parking area; zero odometer; continue S; mi 0.7 is a pull-off on R (W) for the Cherry Springs Nature Area; continue S; mi 1.4 L (E) on Scout Mountain Rd (E Fork Mink Creek Rd); follow it uphill; Scout Mountain Rd ends at the Justice Park Campground in 5.5 mi.

Description: Western Scrub-Jay, Virginia’s Warbler, Calliope Hummingbird, and Lesser Goldfinch present. At higher elevations, look for Downy and Hairy Woodpeckers, and Red-naped Sapsucker. Breeders include Sharp-shinned and Cooper’s Hawks, Western Screech-, Great Horned and Northern Saw-whet Owls, and Lazuli Bunting.
