Directions: From Orofino, US 12 SE for 8 mi to ID 11 turn-off at Greer; ID 11 E to Weippe and Pierce; in Pierce, ID 11 turns N to meet ID 7 (Grangemont Rd); L (W) on ID 7 back to Orofino. CHAPMAN WETLAND: in Weippe, continue straight through town on Musselshell Rd 0.3 mi; R (S) on Chapman Rd for 0.5 mi and look for wetland and kiosk. MARSH CARDIFF: at junction of ID 11/ID 7 (Grangemont Rd), go straight 1.5 mi NE on Grangemont Rd to Marsh. CAMPBELL’S POND: from junction of ID 11/ID 7, travel W ~2 mi to Campbell’s Pond.
Description: CHAPMAN WETLAND: During spring and fall, most of the duck species in Idaho can be seen, including Cinnamon, Green-winged and Blue-winged Teal, Redhead, and Ring-necked Duck. In addition, shorebirds such as yellowlegs, Wilson’s Phalarope and Snipe can be found. Sandhill Crane (northern most nesting in the state) can be heard and seen in the spring. MARSH CARDIFF: Many warbler species occur here, as well as other riparian birds such as Common Yellowthroat and Willow Flycatcher. CAMPBELL’S POND: Osprey can be seen around the pond.
