Access: Open July-October. Access free of charge.

Site Location

Directions: From Riggins, US 95 S ~2 mi; R (W) onto FR 517; go 17 mi up the steep gravel rd to Windy Saddle Trailhead.

Description: The Seven Devils are only accessible from July-Oct. Migrating and flocking songbirds may be present from mid-July on, and migrating raptors may be seen later (especially Sept-Oct). Look for Red-tailed hawk, Golden Eagle, Northern Goshawk, American Kestrel, Prairie Falcon, Blue and Spruce Grouse, American Three-toed and Hairy Woodpeckers, Olive-sided Flycatcher, Clark’s Nutcracker, Gray Jay, Varied and Hermit Thrushes, Mountain Bluebird, American Robin, Townsend’s Solitaire, Mountain Chickadee, Red-breasted Nuthatch, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Western Tanager, Red Crossbill, Pine Siskin, and White-crowned and Chipping Sparrows.
