Directions: On US 12 in Lewiston, on S side of the Clearwater River Bridge, turn S at traffic light onto 21st St (becomes Thain Rd); continue 4 mi; when Thain Rd becomes two lane, turn L (E) to Powers Ave ~ 5 mi to Mann Lake.
Description: Ross’s and Greater White-fronted Geese often mixed with Canada Goose. Surf and White-winged Scoters infrequent in fall/winter. Tundra and Trumpeter Swans make stopovers in spring. Fall migration starts in early July with Western Sandpiper and continues through late Oct. All grebes are possible in fall and spring. Caspian Terns are regular in summer. Virginia and Sora Rails can be found in marsh below dam. American White Pelican from March-May. Look for all 6 swallow species found in Idaho, Say’s Phoebe, and Bewick’s Wren. Nesting Northern Harrier, Red-tailed Hawk, and American Kestrel can be seen. Osprey and Bald Eagle are regular winter visitors. Peregrine and Prairie Falcons and Merlin present during shorebird migrations. Cooper’s and Sharp-shinned Hawks year-round.
